It was one of those amazing New York moments... a little boy spending the afternoon describing his favorite book. A book about a tugboat named Mighty! And as we strolled along the water's edge, who should come down the Hudson but a police boat! And as we stood at the railing to wave, the little boy's shouts caught the eye of the policeman driving the boat.
"OH, HI MIGHTY!"
"MIGHTY, OVER HERE!"
And wouldn't you know it--a miracle happened. A fine moment from New York's Finest. The NYPD boat (this is all true) actually swerved over out of the middle of the river, and slowly but mightily nosed its way over to the railing right in front of us. Mighty actually stopped to say hello!
And for a moment or maybe two, the story came to life for one special little guy. I sure do love this town.
